District 63 Meeting Minutes
April 25, 2009

Meeting began at 9:00 with Serenity Prayer

Introductions: GR’s: 10 & 2 Outgoing; AGR: 1; DR; ADR; and Alateen Liaison.

Readings: Tradition 4–Elaine (short version from Pathways to Recovery); Daily Reader-Sarah (ODAT); Concept 4–Bernie (Al-Anon Alateen Service Manual 2006-2009)

Secretary: (Kim) Minutes read from January 24, 2009 District 63 mtg. Under Treasurer: Removed “Bob Reser”; added Alternate: Alternate Rep: (Vicki-outgoing/Elaine-incoming); removed “Food for SCAT” from Hospitality; changed “lease” to “least” under District 63 GR Meetings for 2009; changed “$100 Minimum for Basket” to “$100 Minimum for Basket from District 63” and removed “Now that I read my notes, I’m not sure if this means that we get donations from meeting and district matches to make $100. Like you, I thought the district was putting in $100 and anything from the meetings would be added to the $100.” under Raffles Basket for the AFG Convention.

MOTION: Accept January 24, 2009 Minutes with changes
Elaine put forth the motion; Barb seconded; Unanimous yeas. Motion passed.

Hospitality: (Michelle/Randi) Passed around sign-up sheet for July 25, 2009 meeting.

District Rep: (Bob) Passed out roster for updates. See Business below.

Alternate Rep: (Elaine) Thanked Raffle Basket Committee (Joe, Cathy & Judy) & GR’s. Basket included $652 of items.

Provided three hand-outs from February 21, 2009 Meeting:
• Handout 1: Bob summarized “Notes from the SCWS February 21, 2009 Area 4 (California South) Panel 49 Committee Meeting:
o Handout 2 (referenced in Handout1): Ad Hoc Committee for Recommendations on the Continuance of Action Committees
• Handout 3: Delegate’s Report by Sandie E

Theme for our new term-All
The following ideas were discussed for possible themes for the new term:
• Continue & expand support of Alateens
• Get up & Participate-Reach out to other groups for District 63 GRs and explain World Service
o Term 2003 to 2006 Theme was to “Reach out to 2 new groups” per GR
• Sponsor special event topics such as Alateen or sponsorship
o Public Outreach
o Special Events (unspecified)
o Special Events specializing in Alateen & Family

Straw poll for concentration: (items were listed & each attendee picked two)
16 Continue Support of Alateen
12 Reach out to other groups for District 63 GRs and explain World Service
4 Sponsor special event topics such as Alateen or sponsorship

The group decided to focus on the two top vote winners.

Begin to work on specifics of our outreach at July 25, 2009 Meeting

District 63 & a BLOG-Kim
Provided an example of a blog (district63.blogspot.com) for District 63 to post our information

Randi put forth the motion; Cheryl seconded; 16-yeas; 1 nay. Motion passed.

New Business:
• Support for Pre-teen/Alateen-Bernie
• What meetings are no longer in District 63 and have moved to District 64 (Spanish)?
• Al-anon support at Orange County Fair

Introductions: GR’s: 11 & 1 Outgoing, DR (outgoing & incoming), ADR (incoming), and Alateen Liaison. Intergroup WS Liaison not present.

7th Tradition – Bob mentioned that Group should reimburse for donation

Secretary: (Cheryl) Minutes read from Oct 11, 2008 District 63 mtg. Under New Business the “Motion to increase Alateen fund by $100 …” was corrected to say “Motion to increase Alateen fund by $50 to $100 …”
Secretary will coordinate getting the Orange Blossm updated with the new meeting dates and locations.

Treasurer: (Bob outgoing/Barb incoming) See report below provided by Barb

Hospitality: (Michelle/Maryann-outgoing & Michelle/Randi -incoming) Sent sign-up sheet for next meeting’s snacks, please put down phone number and she will call to remind us what to bring.

Nominate & Vote for Service Positions for term of January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2011

Secretary: Cheryl (outgoing) --- Kim (incoming) Cheryl read minutes & explained Secretary role: maintain minutes; current roster; email versus snail; notify Orange Blossom; read minutes

Treasurer: Bob (outgoing) – Barbara (incoming) Bob provided financial report & explained Treasurer role:
collect 7th tradition; cost of meeting (stamps); donations from a few groups; gives financial report

Alateen Liaison: Jim will continue position. Collect Money & Deliver to SCAT.

Because of 43 meetings in district, but low turn-out in Huntington Beach, we will try a different location. Randi offered up her home. Bob would like to have at least every other meeting at his home in Huntington Beach.

Raffles Basket for the AFG Convention
The Basket Donation is "Laguna Beach" theme from District 63 for 32nd SoCal Al-Anon Family Groups Convention ,
